Description :
Mauro Giuliani was born in Bisceglie, Italy, in 1781. He was one of the most famous guitarists and composers in the early 19th century. In 1806 he settled in Vienna where he was celebrated as a virtuoso, composer and teacher, and stayed there until 1819. Via Venice and Rome he came to Naples where he spent the last five years of his life until he died on the 8th May 1829. From his vast oeuvre comprising about 220 works, the two Duets for Flute or Violin and Guitar Op. 25 and Op. 85, are his key works from the genre that have been most played and recorded. This edition of the Grand Duo Concertant Op. 85, for Flute or Violin and Guitar, has been editedby Henner Eppel and Volker Höh. The solo flute (or violin) part is also included on a separate insert.
