The popular song, written by Bert Kaempfert with English lyrics by Charles Singleton and Eddie Snyder, reached number one on both the BillboardHot 100 and the UK Singles Chart and has won multiple awards. The German orchestra leader and songwriter Bert Kaempfert made easy listening and jazz-oriented records and wrote the music for a number of well-knownsongs sung artists such as Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole and Elvis Presley. He also (indirectly) contributed to the discovery and success of The Beatles.
