Description :
Ursula Mamlok was born in Berlin in 1923, but was forced to emigrate via Ecuador to New York in 1939 because of her Jewish descent. In 2006 she returned to the city where she was born.
Wolkenfelder for viola and harp was first performed at the New York Carnegie Recital Hall in 1965. Since then, this very dense work with its four strongly contrasting movements has lost nothing of its original allure. Using extremely complex rhythms and alternating tonal colours, Mamlok is able to continuously create new atmospheres in next to no time.
