Description :
"Chinese Dream" was completed in 2014 and won the gold medal at the CCTV Piano Grand Final Competition in the same year. The work was inspired by the "Yi Zhuan“ written by Confucius for the "I Ching". The I Ching is the source of Chinese culture. To inherit the essence of Chinese culture, Confucius wrote a set of ten commentaries with his descendants, also known as the "Ten Wings", which means "flying". Professor Zeng Shiqiang of Taiwan once said, "Confucius dreamed that the Zhou Yi could influence the world and help the world build unity.” Another inspiration for the composition came from the time when Emperor Kangxi tried to play the Guqin (a plucked seven-string Chinese musical instrument) piece: “Pu’an Mantra” on an ancient piano, which expressed the emperor’s desire for the integration of Chinese and Western civilizations.
