Description :
Anton Stadler (1753-1812) was a renowned clarinettist and was the inspiration for both of Mozart's compositions for clarinet - the Quintet in A K. 581 and the Concerto in A K. 623 - which are considered to be two of the greatest works in the repertoire for the instrument. It is for this reason that particular interest is drawn to the writing for clarinet by Anton Stadler himself. Duo In F is an arrangement, by Jost Michaels, of the 5th and 6th duets from Stadler's Duettinos Progressives. Michaels has arranged four of the movements from these two duets (two from each) in such a way that, the order in which they now stand brings out the freshness ofthe melodies and the particular use of the technique of the 2 clarinets to their utmost.
