French composer, Pierre Ancelin (1934-2001) studied at the conservatories of Aix-en-Provence, Marseille, and later, under Olivier Messiaen at the Paris Conservatoire. His Scrubland is an exciting collection of five pieces for Oboe and Piano. Ancelin is particularly remembered for founding the National Union of Composers of Music, along with Jolivet, Lesuer and Sauguet. The five pieces in Scrubland are suitable for beginner to intermediate level oboists. Each of the five pieces contain a variety of musical features.
