This work, with two distinct vocal parts and little unison, is a chirpy setting of a traditional Irish text, ‘The wren, the king of the birds’. Along with the other newly-engraved Howells part songs, this is part of the new Boosey & Hawkes Choral Treasury series, which draws upon a rich archive to restore difficult choral classics to the repertoire.
