Krebs: Choralbearbeitungen. Erster Teil Der Clavier-Übung KREBS JOHANN LUDWIG

Gattungen: choralgebundene Orgelmusik
Description :
Our Krebs is known to have been one of the best pupils of Johann Sebastian Bach, consequently we made a play on words: In this great Bach [brook] only one single Krebs [crayfish] has been caught. In his organ compositions Krebs was essentially a follower of Bach, while in his clavier and chamber music the change of musical styles which occurred about 1750 is clearly evident. Characteristic of the pre-classical period is the juxtaposition and blending of old and new stylistic elements. Thus the music of Krebs represents the new courtly and sensitive spirit of that era. The Clavier-Übung I [chorale arrangements] is the first part of the four-part Clavier-Übung by Krebs and consistsof arrangements of 13 chorales.
