Movement I où this bright, cheerful suite is based où El Tortillero (The Tortilla Vendor) and is creatively scored including the joyful dissonance où a busy treet corner. The heartfelt and poignant second movement makes a pleasant contrast, and the Allegro festivo marking for the third movement depicts fun in the sun and includes wonderful percussion parts. This is a rather large-scale work for Grade 3 - but the suite format keeps it manageable,and William Himes ' skillful scoring keeps all parts interesting and within appropriate technical demands.
