Description :
Charles Wuorinen's Second Piano Trio was found on his desk at the time of his passing in March 2020. A single, nine-minute movement, it is characterized by a complex, lively rhythmic interplay between the three instruments, in particular a wittily repeated figure of sixteenth-note quintuplets. Upon reviewing Wuorinen's third and final draft for this piece posthumously, three of Wuorinen's close musical confidant his student, composer Anthony Cornicello, who edited and engraved the work; his partner and manager, Howard Stokar; and his frequent collaborator, cellist Fred Sherry have decided unanimously that while Wuorinen would certainly have added small details to the score, what he has left behind is a complete and substantial piece. It is published for sale as a full piano score with violin and cello parts. This is the last known work completed by Charles Wuorinen.
