Description :
Ursula Mamlok was born in Berlin in 1923, but was forced to emigrate via Ecuador to New York in 1939 because of her Jewish descent. In 2006 she returned to the city where she was born.
Her four-movement Suite for violin and piano was written as early as 1960. Like many other works of the composer, it stands out due to its extremely rhythmic complexity and strong contrasts with regard to dynamics and tempo.
