Description :
Written in memory of Sir John Mortimer, To Notice Such Things is composed in 6 contrasting movements for flute and piano. Each movement of the work reflects an aspect of Mortimer’s personality.
Lord says of the piece, "I wanted to give the flute the job of speaking for John throughout the Suite; his laughter and his sighs, his wistfulness and occasional mild cantankerousness, his playfulness, and also the anguish and then the acceptance of his final days."
Jon Lord is the former keyboard player for the band, Deep Purple. The work, To Notice Such Things also appears on a studio album of the same name, released in 2010.
