Born in Toulouse, Marcel Bitsch (1921-2011) went on to study at the Paris Conservatoire before becoming a professor of counterpoint at the institution. As an exceptionally versatile composer, Bitsch has composed orchestral works, chamber works and numerous pieces and studies for wind instruments. Villageoise is a sublime addition to the Alto Saxophone repertoire. Suited to intermediate level saxophonists, Bitsch 's Villageoise, published in 1953, contains a range of exciting musical aspects, including varied articulation, modulation, changes in time signature, and much variation indynamics, tempo and performance directions.
