Description :
A tremendous suite for Medium-Low Voice with Piano accompaniment by contemporary American composer, Ned Rorem. It is a poignant, evocative and rousing set full of drama, reflecting the confusion, clamour and consequences of war. It is dedicated to those who died in Vietnam, on both sides, during the composition between 20th and 30th of June, 1969. War Scenes was first performed in 1969, though the texts come from Walt Whitman’s civil war diary Specimen Days, originally published in 1882.
